–The Prince George Spruce Kings had their three game win streak come to an end following a 3-2 loss to the Langley Rivermen. The (22-20-04) Spruce Kings continue on the road tonight in Chilliwack against the (27-16-1-1) Chiefs and Saturday in Surrey against the (8-35-0-3) Eagles. Brogan O’Brien at 4:58 of the 1st, and Chad Staley at 19:42 of the 3rd, tallied for the Spruce Kings who are locked into 3rd in the BCHL Mainland Division. PG is 8 points back of Chiliwack, 9 behind Langley and 7 ahead of Coquitlam with just 12 regular season games left.

–The (20-29-1-1) Prince George Cougars host the (23-19-3-3) Seattle Thunderbirds Friday and Saturday as the Cats begin a four game home-stand. Thanks to a 10-game losing skid, The Cougars have fallen out of a playoff spot, tied with Vancouver, two points behind 3rd place Kamloops in the BC Division.

–The (26-5-1) first place Cariboo Cougars host the (4-22-4) Kootenay Ice Saturday at 7:15pm and Sunday at 8:30am at Kin 1. Saturday’s game will feature Jameson Jones Night with proceeds going to BC Children’s Hospital.

–Figure Skater Justin Hampole of Prince George will compete in his hometown at the 2015 Canada Winter Games (February 13 to March 1). Hampole is one of 12 Figure Skaters from seven clubs selected to Team BC. He is entered in the Pre-Novice Mens event and becomes the first Northern Figure Skater in recent history to be chosen to the Canada Winter Games Provincial Team. The Figure Skating competition takes place during the second week of the Games.

–Kenny Lally of Prince George has been chosen to participate with the Canadian boxing team at the Pan Am Games August 7th to 15th in Toronto. Lally, a six-time National Champion, has an ultimate goal of qualifying for the
2016 Olympics.

–The Prince George High School Basketball City League Finals are set. On the girls side, top-ranked Duchess Park will face College Heights, and in the boys division it will be Duchess against PGSS. The championship games will tip off at 6 and 8pm on Tuesday, February 10th at Duchess Park. In the Girls semi-finals: Duchess dumped Kelly Road 105-16 and College Heights knocked off Cedars Christian 64-44. In the Boys semis: Duchess Park beat DP Todd 61-41 and PGSS outscored Kelly Road 96-82.

–The UNBC Timberwolves host the MacEwan Griffins in Canada West basketball Friday at 6 and 8pm and Saturday at 5 and 7pm. (Special Olympic athletes will be in attendance and featured on Friday, including a Special Olympics basketball game at half time of the UNBC men’s game). The UNBC men are 7-7, holding down the third and final playoff spot in the Explorer Division, one game ahead of 6-8 Mount Royal and two games in front of 5-9 MacEwan. The Lady Timberwolves are 2-12. The MacEwan women are 10-4.
