–The Seattle Thunderbirds scored four goals in both the first and second periods to crush the Prince George Cougars 9-2 before 2,491 fans. Seattle tallied nine times on just 28 shots. It was the 11th consecutive loss for the Cougars, who remain tied with Vancouver for last in the BC Division, two points behind 3rd place Kamloops. The Cougars and Thunderbirds play again tonight at CN Centre.

–The Chilliwack Chiefs scored 35 seconds into overtime for a 4-3 victory over the Prince George Spruce Kings. The Spruce Kings gained a point after getting a pair of unanswered goals in the 3rd. P.G. continues on the road tonight in Surrey.

–The Northern Cougars female midget AAA hockey team edged Fraser Valley Phantom 3-2. The Cougars have set the record for most goals (122) and most wins (25) in the BC Female Major Midget League.

–The Cariboo Cougars host the Kootenay Ice tonight at 7:15 and Sunday at 8:30am at Kin 1. This evening’s game is a fund raiser for BC Children’s Hospital.

–Devin McMurtry hooped 14 points and added 20 rebounds and three blocks to lead the UNBC Timberwolves men’s basketball team to an 81-65 win over the MacEwan Griffins. In the women’s game, MacEwan beat the Lady Timberwolves 77-63. The same teams play again in Canada West action tonight at 5 and 7 at the Northern Sport Centre.
