Winter Games brings changes to library

The incoming Canada Winter Games are going to bring temporary change to the Prince George Public Library.

The downtown branch will be acting as a hosting lounge for the 2400 athletes descending on Prince George and the second floor will be closed to the public as of February 10th.

But Chief Librarian Janet Marren says they have a plan.

“We are moving all our public computers and many of high use high demand collection down to the main floor so people still have access to them.”

The first floor of the library will remain open and book runners will be on hand to get books from the second floor. In addition, to make up for the lost programming capacity a “pop-up library” will open at Pine Centre Mall

“We are going to have a small collection there and have staff on hand who can register library cards and check out books” says Marren “We will also have a place where you can drop off your books if you can’t make it to the downtown branch.”

The Nechako branch in the Hart will also be fully operational during the Winter Games.
