Ontario takes final gold of the Games

Ontario completed an unbeaten run in Canada Winter Games men’s hockey with a golden performance in the final defeating Alberta 3-1. Ryan McLeod opened the scoring in the second period, Nick Suzuki notched the winner midway through the 3rd and Zachary Gallant put one into an empty net. Winning goalie Michael DiPietro stopped 29 shots, losing his shutout bid with less than a second left in the game. “I think our positivity. We stayed humble,” said Dipietro, when asked the key to victory. “We never got too high, we never got too low, we just stayed as a team, trusted each other.” DiPietro allowed just three goals in four tournament games. Manitoba captured bronze with Quebec 4th, Nova Scotia 5th and BC 6th in the final men’s hockey standings.
