University Heights residents want clarity on new subdivision

A new residential development in University Heights has some people up in arms.
At last night’s city council meeting a rezoning application by Infinity Properties was presented to rezone 5.3 hectares for multi family dwellings.
But resident Dr. Firas Mansour claims there has been a lot of deception by the developer as to what will be built in the area.
“They have changed their plan over and over and over again, and this is another step towards ruining the neighbourhood, the whole concern is about money and how they are going to make the most money,” says Mansour.
But Ashley Elliott, Community Planner for L&M Engineering who is handling the project, says what will be put in will come down to the market.
“What people are interested in buying in the subdivision, whether it is multi family or single family, a mix, so its really difficult at this time a year out to really estimate what’s going to be in demand at that time,” says Elliott.
Council agreed to postpone a final decision on the rezoning so the two sides work out issues with the proposal.
