Housing report shows situation and ideas for improvement

A housing report from the Community Development Institute has laid the foundation for Prince George City Council.
At last night’s meeting councillors got the rundown on what the current housing situation is and what are some solutions to increase dwelling places in the city.
Co-Director Marleen Morris says one of the reports findings is that between 2001-2011, the number of people over 80 has risen by 71%.
“Households are getting smaller, and the housing stock is getting old,” says Morris, “so what have identified as opportunities for revitalizing housing is to look at revitalizing neighbourhoods, making use of the housing stock differently.”
Morris says this could be done through renovations.
She says redeveloping those houses and creating new housing is a possibility.
