PG Sports—Thursday, March 5

The Prince George Cougars extended their win streak to four with a 3-2 victory over the Calgary Hitmen before 2,431 fans at CN Centre. It was just the third regulation loss in the last 20 games for the Central Division leading Hitmen. First star Ty Edmonds made 34 saves in the P.G. net. Cal Babych scored the winner 20 seconds into the third period on a strange play, and added an assist against his former team. From behind his own blue line, Cougars captain Sam Ruopp cleared the puck out of his zone off of the right wing boards. Near center ice, the puck redirected off of Babych along the boards and trickled towards the Calgary Net. Hitmen goalie Mack Shields attempted to poke the puck into the corner, but instead the puck skipped past his stick and into the net through his legs.
