Bill Fisher and his rink of 3rd Rick Fewster, 2nd Lyle Hensrud and lead Wayne Colliss won the 88th annual Kelly Cup bonspiel. Fisher beat Scott Sherba 6-3 in the final.
Fewster has captured a record five Kelly Cup titles. 33 teams competed at the PG Golf and Curling Club.

–The PG Ladies Bonspiel was won by the Alyssa Connell junior team. Connell along with third Bailey Eberherr, second Jordan Henson and lead Erin Ross outscored Julia Shaddick 7-5 in the final.

–The Prince George Cougars are down 2-0 in their best of seven Western Conference quarter-final series against the Victoria Royals.

The Royals won the first two games 5-3 (Friday) and 5-4 (Saturday). 20-year-old Brandon Magee, the WHL Player of the Week, led Victoria with five goals and an assist in the two games. Magee has 16 points, including 11 goals, in eight games this season against Prince George.

The Cougars scored five of their seven goals on the power play and outshot Victoria in each of the first two games (combined 65-50).

Games three and four will be played Wednesday and Thursday at CN Centre.

–Four WHL playoff games Sunday: Portland blanked Seattle 3-0 to tie that best of seven series 1-1.

In the East, Brandon nipped Edmonton 3-2 to take a 2-1 series lead. Calgary edged Kootenay 3-2 in overtime to tie that Conference quarter-final 1-1 and Medicine Hat blanked Red Deer 1-0 to grab a 2-0 series lead.

Playoff action resumes with 5 WHL games on Tuesday.

–The Penticton Vees scored with just over two minutes left in the third period and again at 11:29 of overtime to beat the Chilliwack Chiefs 4-3 in the BCHL double round robin semi-finals. Penticton is 2-0, the Nanaimo Clippers are 1-1 and Chilliwack is 0-2. Next action has Chilliwack at Penticton on Tuesday.

–Four Prince George gymnasts competed at the Twisters Invitational in Abbotsford. Hannah Gould and Reid Powers were both 11th overall in their division. Powers took bronze on the floor routine. Mekenna Parker was 17th overall and Rhiana Palfy ended up 18th overall in their class. Next up in less than two weeks are the Provincials in North Vancouver.

–PGSS-2 took top honors at the grade 8 boys basketball tournament at College Heights outscoring DP Todd-2 in the final 46-38. DP Todd-1 wound up third in the eight team tourney.
