The Kelowna Rockets are WHL Western Conference champions for the 4th time and first since 2009. Ex PG Cougar Chance Braid notched an empty net goal and added an assist to help the Rockets double the Portland Winterhawks 8-4 to take the series 4-2. Kelowna outscored Portland 7-1 over the final two periods. Braid was one of 12 Kelowna skaters to pick up at least one point.

The Rockets will meet the Eastern Conference Champion Brandon Wheat Kings in the best of seven league final. The series will be a 2-3-2 format and begins Friday in Brandon.

–A pair of Prince George Senior Lacrosse games were played in Quesnel. The Westwood Pub Devils blasted the Cowboy Ranch Stylers 18-7 and the Bandits knocked off the Quesnel Crossfire 8-5. The Bandits are 3-0 with the Devils 2-0.

–PG Senior Lacrosse resumes tonight (Monday) at 8 at the Coliseum as the Devils face the 1-2 Northland/Nissan Assault.

–Competing for K-State, former Prince George Track Club member Alyx Treasure won the women’s high jump at a meet in Lawrence, Kansas. The 22-year-old Treasure, (who is preparing for the Big 12’s in less than two weeks), cleared six-plus feet for the second-consecutive meet. She took first place with a leap of 1.84m.
