Independent Investigation Office notified of Prince George “incident”

Prince George RCMP remains tight lipped about an incident on 15 mile road just south of Prince George.

The Independent Investigation Office of BC has confirmed that they have been notified of an “incident” in Prince George involving an adult male who was in a collision with RCMP members.

IIO spokesperson Kellie Kilpatrick says that the man is in hospital, and that RCMP crash reconstruction officers are on the scene.

“We are in the process of waiting to the the affected persons injuries.” Kilpatrick said “Because for us to sustain jurisdiction, it either has to be death or serious harm as defined by the police act.”

She added that they are preparing in case they need to deploy to Prince George.

Corporal Craig Douglas with the Prince George RCMP said the “police incident” is no longer ongoing but called it a “complicated” situation.

The road remains closed but social media chatter indicated that police were involved in the search and pursuit of an erratically driven dark pickup truck in nearby Pineview.
