Mandatory off road vehicle registration is being delayed until the fall.
The original date of June 1st is being pushed back so ICBC can iron out details for a system that will require all snow mobiles, dirt bikes and ATV’s to be plated and registered through ICBC.
The 48 dollar fee for registration will cover the cost of creating a database that will cut down on theft. The new deadline is November 1st.
Owners will also have an option of a registration “sticker” instead of a plate.

BC is one of the last provinces to create such a program and as a result has become a dumping ground for stolen off road vehicles over the past decade.
ICBC says 20k out of the estimated 200k off road vehicles have already registered
