PG’s Amanda Asay helped the Canadian women’s baseball team to a silver medal at the Pan Am Games in Toronto.

Canada lost the final 11-3 to the United States. The 27-year-old Asay pitched 3 2/3 innings in relief, allowing 3 hits, 2 runs (1 earned) and two walks against the Americans. She was 0-for-2 at the plate with a pair of walks and an RBI.

Asay (who started as the DH but also played first base in the final) finished the tournament 4-for-18 for a .222 batting average with 4 RBI’s & 2 runs scored.

–Amanda Asay is the second Prince George athlete to earn a medal at the Pan Am Games. Inner City boxer Kenny Lally captured a bronze in the bantamweight 56 kilos class. Alyx Treasure of P.G. finished 7th out of 16 in the women’s high jump.

–The host Prince George Posse took silver after a 7-2 loss to Port Moody in the A2 Division final of the Provincial Midget Lacrosse Championships at the Kin Centre. The Posse won its first four games in the tournament, including a 6-2 round robin decision over Port Moody.
