17-year-old Adam Veenstra of Smithers repeated as champion at the Aberdeen Glen men’s open in Prince George.

Veenstra finished the 54-hole tournament with a score of 225, six strokes higher than his winning total of even par 219 last year. 99 golfers competed.

–Former Prince George Spruce Kings head coach Dave Dupas has been hired as assistant coach with the Fort McMurray Oil Barons of the AJHL.

The 53-year-old Dupas left the Spruce Kings in March after the team advanced to the second round of the BCHL playoffs for the first time in 10 years.

He was behind the P.G. bench for 4 ½ seasons. Dupas will work under Oil Barons head coach and GM Tom Keca.

–Former Prince George Spruce Kings defenceman Skylar Pacheco of the Cowichan Valley Capitals has earned a scholarship with the CIS Brock University Badgers in Ontario.

Pacheco notched 12 goals and 32 assists last season for Cowichan. Prior to that, he spent 3 seasons with the Spruce Kings.
