Construction on WDIC park delayed

The Proposed Wood Design and Innovation Centre Park is going back to the drawing board.

City Council has decided to put off construction until the spring of next year, citing the need for more public input.

$750,000 has been dedicated to the park project, and the City has requested funding from BC Transit for money to build an attached transit exchange.

“We’ve stretched the timeline a little bit on this, just to get some better design scoping and feedback from the community,” says Councillor Jillian Merrick, “I don’t believe that this investment merits the money that we’ve pinpointed, and quite frankly, if we’re investing in a new transit exchange, I think the one on 15th and Johnson merits improvement better than this one.”

The park design was initially presented to Council last April.
