Small business confidence takes a dip in July

Entrepreneur faith in the BC economy has taken a drop, down to 67.5 points on the Business confidence index.

The Province has fallen from its top spot in the country, now sitting behind PEI at 69 points.

Canadian Federation of Independent Business Vice President Richard Truscott says the hiring outlook has certainly taken a hit:

“Those plans are starting to soften, In terms of hiring, 23% of entrepreneurs now say they plan to add full-time staff in the next few months thats down 4 points since June and a full 7 points since May.”

Truscott says the downward trend is certainly worrisome, and says the Provinces ability to weather the economic storm that has hit the rest of the country, could be coming to an end.
