Bechtel a no-show at Spruce Kings camp

The Prince George Spruce Kings began their training camp without defenceman Rylan Bechtel. The Spruce Kings recently acquired the 20-year-old Bechtel from the Cowichan Valley Capitals for blue-liner Mitch Meek.

Spruce Kings General Manager Mike Hawes says Bechtel is at home considering his future which may include retiring from hockey to pursue a job opportunity.

In the meantime, Hawes says Bechtel remains on the Spruce Kings roster but will be put on the team’s suspended list. Bechtel played the last three seasons with Cowichan.

The Spruce Kings hold full intra-squad games tonight (Tuesday), Wednesday and Thursday at 7:00 at the Coliseum with pre-season play to follow starting Friday night when they host the Merritt Centennials.
