Spruce Kings do not weather the Storm

Grande Prairie was able to Storm back from an early 2-0 deficit to beat the visiting Prince George Spruce Kings 4-3 in overtime. It was the third exhibition game for the Spruce Kings who got goals from Cole Todd, Parker Colley and Kyle Johnson. Josh Zablocki tallied in OT for the Storm.

–The Spruce Kings have two pre-season games left, both against the Vipers: Friday at the PG Coliseum and Saturday in Vernon.

–The BCHL regular season opens for the Spruce Kings on home ice September 11th against the expansion Wenatchee Wild.

–The PG Spruce Kings are listed 15th in the CJHL Pre-Season Top 20 rankings for the 2015-16 season. Just two other BCHL teams are on the list with the Penticton Vees 1st and the Nanaimo Clippers 10th.

–The Prince George Cougars have trimmed their roster to 36 players: 4 goalies, 11 defencemen and 21 forwards. The goalies are 19-year-olds Ty Edmonds and Patrick Gora, 17-year-old Tavin Grant and 20-year-old Mack Shields.

–The Prince George Cougars launch their pre-season schedule with a pair of games on the road this weekend. The Cougars visit the Kamloops Blazers Friday and the Kelowna Rockets Saturday.
