The centennial time capsule is in the ground.

It was laid to rest Wednesday morning behind the Welcome to Prince George sign at Highway 16 and 97 beside the City’s 75th Anniversary capsule.

“Looking around here, there probably won’t be many of us here at 2115” Mayor Lyn Hall said with a laugh after dropping the capsule into the ground “But maybe 2065, I think it’s just that, it’s our legacy, it’s our history and it preserves our heritage.”

The capsules contents run wide; everything from memorabilia, restaurant menus to photos and even a recipe for asphalt. A full list can be found here.

“Just like when we opened up the last one two or three months ago, what it does is gives the citizens of 100 years down the road an idea of what Prince George was like 100 years earlier and shows the transition of our community.” Hall added
