PG Gymnasts are in for a Warm Winter

The Prince George Gymnastics Club won’t be waiting much longer for a much needed update.

In September City Council agreed to replace the gymnasiums inadequate heating systems so that the club could operate safely in the winter.

The replacement heater is scheduled to be installed in mid-December.

“They’re going to work around us and our scheduling because we’ll have to tear up some of our equipment” said Club President Lucia Fendelet. “So the best time for us and our programs is over the holidays when our rec program stops for Christmas.”

If all goes well, gymnasts will return to a much warmer building in the new year, although there will still more work to be done.

“Our doors are in bad shape” said Fendelet. “When it snows and when it’s cold, the cold air comes through because there’s holes in our doors and right now we have duct tape trying to protect us from the cold air coming in and the snow which really doesn’t help.”

The city will be assessing the building for further potential upgrades in 2016.
