Air Quality Advisory Issued for Prince George

An air quality advisory has been issued for Prince George.

A high concentration of fine particulates in the air caused the warning, and stagnant air will keep the advisory in effect for the time being.

Infants, the elderly, and people with diabetes, lung, or heart disease should try to remain indoors to decrease health risks.

Staying indoors and in air conditioned spaces helps to reduce fine particulate exposure, and Northern Health recommends keeping windows and doors closed, and reduce indoor sources of pollution such as smoking, vacuuming and use of woodstoves.

Northern Health and the Ministry of Health issued the advisory at approximately 2:45 today.
