Vista Radio Community Christmas donations eclipse $70k

The 5th annual Vista Radio Community Christmas is in the books.

The City of Prince George stepped up and filled the station with donations of toys, food and cash for the Saint Vincent de Paul Society.

“It was wonderful, it was just incredible.” St Vincent de Paul’s Bernie Goold said “The atmosphere was just electric and we are so pleased with all the stuff we got”

Goold talked about a women who dropped off a donation of toys. “And then she said very quietly, ‘for several years, St Vincent de Paul’s toys in their hamper was the only toys I got. Now it’s time to pay forward.’”

Donations are still being counted, but the total has eclipsed this years goal of $70,000.

“It warms your heart, we know Prince George is always like that.” Goold added “They come through and they are the most generous community in all of BC as far as I’m concerned.”

If you could not make it over the past two days, donations will be accepted at the Vista Radio studios at the corner of Ferry and Ospika until 10am Friday.
