New all-time record reached for BC home sales

$771,000 is the new average home price in British Columbia.

The B.C. Real Estate Association says a new all-time record in home sales was reached in March to the tune of 12,560 units which is up 38% from a year ago.

Prince George’s average home price pales in comparison at $293,000 but Chief Economist Cameron Muir states the local market is doing ok.

“In Prince George, the market is doing not so bad considering the weak demand for commodities worldwide. We see the local market as being quite balanced edging up around the rate of inflation so that is very good news indeed.”

The Lower-Mainland and the Southcoast are most responsible for the price hike according to Muir.

Affordable home prices in the north also include Quesnel at $185,450, 100 Mile House at $212,357, Mackenzie $178,067 and Williams Lake at $235,488.
