The latest Employment Insurance numbers for BC and Prince George have been unveiled by Stats Canada.
Analyst, Gordon Song says the provincial numbers didn’t change much. “The number of people receiving benefits in February was little change. It was down 0.5% to 52,910.”
Prince George experienced a positive result for the second straight month according to Song.
“The number of people receiving EI benefits in Prince George decreased from January to February to 1830 people which is a drop of about 60 people.”
In the last year, the amount of BC residents receiving benefits increased 4.7%.
That is a far cry compared to Alberta and Saskatchewan who reported spikes of 79 and 39 percent in the past 12 months.
