The Coastal Gaslink Pipeline project received some good news today.
It has received the last two of 10 pipeline and facility permits from the BC Oil and Gas Commission.
“So this represents a regulatory milestone for us.” TransCanada spokesperson Sheila Shapiro said “So we now have approval for construction and operation of the proposed pipeline and related facilities.”
Shapiro says the final piece left before construction is a final investment decision from the pipeline customers LNG Canada. That is expected at the end of 2016. If the LNG consortium pulls the trigger, construction will start in 2017.
TransCanada says they have signed 11 project agreements with the 21 First Nations communities along the pipeline route, with others completed and to be announced in the future.
The project will transport natural gas from the Peace region to a proposed export terminal in Kitimat.
