PG Chamber of Commerce heading to BC Chamber AGM

Derelict properties will be top of mind for the Prince George Chamber of Commerce when they head to Kelowna for the BC Chamber AGM next week.

Chamber CEO, Christie Ray says the issue has come to a head in Prince George which is slowing down development in those areas.

“Here in Prince George, there are a number of sites where everybody can think of examples like old gas stations that would fall into this category and have tremendous potential from an economic development standpoint.”

Ray would also like to see the province’s incentive plan stay in place.

“We are trying to ensure the province maintains an interest in these Brownfield sites and they have in the past had an incentive which we do not want to see fall off their books since it’s important with a ton of potential.”

The City of Prince George has taken remedial action against derelict properties in the past year, most notably the Lombardi Trailer Park.

The meeting runs from May 29th to 31st and three delegates from the Prince George Chamber will be in attendance.

Other important topics include the renewed commitment to the forest industry and support for Canada’s small airports.
