Brenda Wilson will finish her 700 km walk tomorrow in Prince George, just in time for National Aboriginal Day.
She left Prince Rupert on June 1st and has been walking along the Highway of Tears since. She can finally rest after reaching Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park just after 11:30 AM, a part of the city’s celebration.
Carrier Sekani Family Services spokesperson Mary Teegee says Wilson’s walk is an inspiration to all indigenous women.
It’s a testament to the humans spirit and it’s a testament to our resilience as indigenous people that this walk is to honour those missing but also to give strength to the ones that still haven’t found their lost loved ones.
