5th Annual Cougars Alumni Charity Golf Tournament quickly approaching

The fifth annual Prince George Cougars Alumni Hospital Charity Golf tournament is less than a month away.

The golf tournament on July 16th is sold out, but Dan Hamhuis, Eric Brewer, Tyler Bouck, Nick Drazenovic, Quinn Hancock, Chase Witala and others will be at the CN Centre on Friday, July 15th for a meet and greet, and a locker room tour. Event Chairperson Gary Samis says everyone is also welcome to stop by the golf course and see the ex-Cougars in action.

“It’s still an opportunity to come on down to meet the alumni … we’re going to have a tour of the dressing room and if you want to come out to the golf course on the Saturday if people want to walk around and see some of our duffers in action that’s available as well so there’ll be lots of opportunities to meet the alumni.”

This year’s funds will help buy the hospital new heart and blood pressure monitoring systems. Samis aims to surpass the 2015 total.

“Last year (we raised) $102,000 that we were able to give to Spirit of the North and it went towards cardiac health. We’ve got a target this year of exactly that same amount, we’ve got great support from local businesses and participants that have helped us reach those goals,” he says.

The team released this agenda for the weekend:
Friday, July 15th at CN Centre:
– (From 4-5 PM for the General Public) A Meet and Greet, autographs and dressing room tours with the Cougars Alumni, staff and Rowdy Cat.
– A buffet dinner for all participants.
– A wide variety of live/silent auction items.
– An exciting opportunity to bid on members of the Cougars Alumni to join your golf team.

Saturday, July 16th at the Prince George Golf and Curling Club:
– 18 holes of golf with a Cougars Alumnus or Staff Member at the Prince George Golf and Curling Club.
– Catered dinner.
– Prizes and contests.
