BC SPCA getting new home at 18th and Foothills

SPCAPrince George’s rescued animals will soon have a new home.

City Council is giving the BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals the green light to build a new shelter near 18th Avenue and Foothills Boulevard.

City Councillor Murry Krause says the new spot will have social benefits as well.

“It’s much more central and it makes the SPCA that much more visible so it really is about reminding people that they’re there,” he says, “I know that they also depend on support, financial and other so it really heightens their visibility in the community.”

Krause adds says the group does great helping animals in need.

“We all matter and all beings on this planet matter so it really is about making sure we’re doing the best we can for the human beings and for the animals, too.”

As well as an animal shelter, the SPCA plans to use the property for future horse and connecting trails.
