How Swede it is….Cougars select forward in CHL Import Draft

The Prince George Cougars have made their only selection at the 2016 CHL Import Draft.

18-year old forward Axel Jonsson Fjallby was picked 28th overall by the Cougars.

General Manager, Todd Harkins says he’s quite pleased with the pick.

“He came highly recommended from my contacts in the NHL, one of them being my brother Brett with the Boston Bruins. I had a list of names and dissected them all, he was a guy who kept popping up and we need somebody with speed and skill of his calibre.”

He posted 29 points in 39 games with Djurgardens in the Swedish Under 20 program last season.

Jonsson Fjallby also posted 4 points in 7 games at the Under-18 tournament for Sweden.

The Washington Capitals selected him in the 5th round 147th overall during the 2016 NHL Draft in Buffalo.

The Cougars passed on their 2nd Round selection which was supposed to be 88th overall.

With this selection, the Cougars have released import defenseman Luka Zorko.
