Invaders ready to unleash offensive fury at World Baseball Challenge

If their logo and flashy uniforms weren’t enough, the Roswell Invaders may give fans attending the 2016 World Baseball Challenge a reason to cheer.

They have offense and lots of it according to Head Coach Bryan Kloppe.

“We set the all-time team record in our league this year for home runs, doubles, slugging and runs per game. It’s great to be up here and we’re ready to go.”

“Joey Miller our first baseman does everything very well and is quite powerful, our short stop Brett Balken is our best defender if you like than and pitching wise we have Eric Gleese and Darryl Thompson are the two to watch for sure and our closer Tyler Stirewalt throws about 96 miles per hour.”

Roswell went 47-25 in the Pecos League this season playing a grueling 73 games in 80 days and were a late addition to the tournament after replacing the Bahamas.

The Invaders play their opening game of the WBC on Saturday at 4PM against the Kamloops Sun Devils.

The Tucson Saguaros eliminated Roswell in the Pecos League semi-finals in three games.
