Japan doubles up Sun Devils

A six-run explosion in the top of the 1st was all Japan would need to dispose of the Kamloops Sun Devils at the 2016 Ramada World Baseball Challenge.

The offensive fireworks came early and often for the Japanese as Maruko Tatsuya launched a 3 run home run out of the park from right field.

Genda Sosuke smacked a 2 RBI single to give Japan a 6-0 lead after 1.

Japan would carry an 8-0 lead into the 7th until Kamloops woke up the bats with a rally of their own.

Rob Morrison would slap a two-run RBI single followed by a successful at-bat from Brad Bitz.

Sun Devils Center Fielder, Erick Herbranson says it was nice to end the tournament with a high-class opponent like Japan.

“It felt pretty special playing against Japan again, we knew what they were coming with. They’re a pretty good team.”

Brandon Hunter would end the tournament for Kamloops with a solo-run shot to left field.

The PG product finished the WBC with a .333 batting average.

Japan concludes round-robin play against Sidearm Nation Friday at 8PM.
