T-Wolves ready to begin season on the right foot

There is nowhere to go but up for the UNBC Timberwolves Men’s Soccer team this season.

After finishing with a 1-10-2 mark in the Canada West last season, the T-Wolves added a bunch of fresh faces to the fold and benefited from a full off-season under coach Steve Simonson who met the team on a bus last year.

One of the major changes will be in goal as regular starter Ty Venhola elected to red shirt this year in order to play next season to avoid two fifth year goalkeepers from graduating.

Mitch MacFarlane will play the lion’s share of the games and believes it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity.

“I was always there as a backup to be there for my team whenever possible and stepping up this year I could not have asked for anything greater.”

MacFarlane adds the team’s talent pool has improved greatly over the past year.

“We made a couple moves and got a bunch of new recruits this season, hopefully that will add more bite to our attack. I think in all stages we have gotten better.”

Both games are at Friday and Saturday at 7PM from the NCSSL fields in Prince George.
