BC Children’s Hospital trying to ease back to school anxiety

The BC Children’s Hospital is helping kids and parents to relieve school anxiety and stress.

Psychiatrist in the Mood and Anxiety Disorders Clinic, Dr. Susan Baer believes a chunk of the problems can be solved by getting back into a routine.

“Some of the things that can be helpful to ease it is to get back into school routines a bit early by going shopping purchasing supplies and making it fun so they can focus on some of the more positive aspects of school.”

Baer adds a parents demeanor can have a major impact on their child. “As a parent, I really think it’s important to monitor our own anxiety. If you’re able to maintain a positive, confident outlook attitude that your child will be able to handle that then your child picks up on it and fell confident and brave.”
