Open house at Fire Hall No. 2 for Fire Prevention Month

The Prince George Fire Department is holding an open house today to mark the start of Fire Prevention Month.

Demonstrations, informational displays and giveaways will be running at Fire Hall No.2 from 10a-2p.

As a part of Fire Prevention Month, Chief Fire Prevention Officer, Marcel Profeit says they are reminding residents to check their smoke alarms.

“They have a life on them, and it’s important to realize the 10-year cycle doesn’t start when you purchase or install them, it starts when they are manufactured.”

The Fire Department will also be running a ‘Fire Chief for a Day’ contest, where they are drawing one lucky student from each of its four response zones. The winners will meet at Hall 1 on Oct 15th for a hall tour, photos with the Fire Chief and presentations of certificates.
