The Prince George Spruce Kings made sure Tavin Grant’s debut in net was a successful one.
Spruce Kings fired 52 shots on Cowichan Capitals goalie Adam Marcoux potting 5 goals in the process coming away with a 5-3 victory on Friday at the RMCA.
It was the visitors getting on the board first less then four minutes in from Ayden MacDonald at 3:49 of the first period.
Cavin Tilsley would even things up before the end of the period on the power-play tapping home an Adam Burnett feed to make it 1-1 after 20 minutes.
Marcoux continued to hold the fort for the Capitals in the second only giving up a Kyle Johnson marker while Ty Pochipinski lit the lamp for Cowichan for a 2-2 game.
After 40 minutes of play, the Spruce Kings outshot the Capitals 40-14.
For the second consecutive night, Prince George exploded offensively putting up a three-spot in the final frame thanks to Hunter Luhmann’s first BCHL goal followed by goals from Adam Burnett and former Capital Connor Russell.
Spruce Kings outshot Cowichan 52-24 overall.
Grant made 21 saves in the win.
Prince George heads to Wenatchee for a double header against the Wild on Friday and Saturday.
