Prince George Blizzard ready to host Central Interior Challenge

The Prince George Blizzard Speed Skating Club is hosting the Central Interior Challenge on Saturday.

It all gets going from Kin 1 at 9AM and Media Coordinator, Kathy Lewis says the competition will be coming from everywhere.

“We have a record number of skaters this year, we have 98 that are coming from as far south as Vernon and all the way up to Fort St. John and Grande Prairie so there is quite a bit of the province where we are attracting skaters.”

The one-day event is seeing a huge spike in participants compared to previous years according to Lewis.

“This is the first time it’s as a big as it is as just an inter-club meet. In the past, the Blizzard have been involved with the Canada Winter Games, we have hosted the Central Interior Challenge every year and usually its kind involved with another selection meet.”

Age groups will include Active Start for as a young 4 years of age and all the way up to Junior which is up to 19 years of age.
