Wolsey new UNBC Board of Governors Chair

UNBC’s Board of Governors has a new Chair.

Tracey Wolsey was recently elected to the position. She’s been a provincially appointed alumni representative on the Board since last December. She earned her Master’s degree in Political Science from UNBC.

Wolsey lives in Fort St. John, where she’s the Director of Stakeholder and Aboriginal Relations with Suncor Energy. She’s also a co-chair of the Northeast Energy and Mines Advisory Committee.

Wolsey says she’s excited for what’s next.

“I feel absolutely honoured,” she says, “a little bit weary of the responsibility but looking forward to it. I think it’s very exciting.”

University President Dr. Daniel Weeks has high praise for the new Chair.

“UNBC is poised to become an even more influential and relevant University on the national and international landscape, thanks to our students, alumni, faculty, staff, and supporters,” he says. “It’s terrific that such strong leadership for UNBC is coming from the Northern regions of the province. I know that our Board, under Ms. Wolsey’s leadership, is ready to support our institution to continue to offer an unparalleled post-secondary education, conduct world-leading research, and provide exceptional service to the communities that have helped build and shape UNBC over the years.”

The 15-member Board of Governors meets four times a year and is responsible for the financial oversight of the university. Its next meeting is February 3rd.
