Prince George experiences third warmest November on record, braces for week-long cold snap

Prince George experienced the third warmest on record according to Environment Canada.

The month was highlighted by an 18.8 degree temperature on November 8.

Cindy Yu with Environment Canada says the numbers are plentiful when talking about the balmy conditions.

“When we look at the temperature normally for November our average is around -2.5 and this year we are sitting at 2.4 degrees, so that’s almost 5 degrees above normal.”

Prince George recorded just 39.7 millimetres of precipitation last month well below the monthly average of 55.3 which is 72% of normal.

According to Yu, a cold snap is headed for the city beginning on Monday and will continue for a week with temperatures dipping as low as -32 on Tuesday night.

The warmest November on record for Prince George was set back in 1954.
