Prince George RCMP respond to 3 serious collisions in less than 2 days

Winter road conditions are continuing to wreak havoc with Prince George drivers.

The RCMP responded to three serious accidents in just over 24 hours this week.

Luckily none were fatal but RCMP and Fort-George Highway Rescue spent more than 3 hours on Wednesday working to free the driver of a loaded logging truck from the cab of his vehicle after it left 700 road near Bear Lake.

The driver was taken to hospital with two broken legs and other serious injuries.

That same day, a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at the corner of George St. and 3rd Ave. The pedestrian was treated for non-life threatening injuries in hospital.

Yesterday, a multiple vehicle accident briefly closed Highway 16 near West Beaverley Road, just west of Prince George. A moving van pulling a trailer pulled out in front of a tractor trailer, which was unable to stop before colliding with the van’s trailer.  No injuries were reported. The driver of the moving van was issued a ticket for failing to yield to traffic.

The RCMP continue to urge both drivers and pedestrians to be cautious as winter conditions make roads slippery and the days continue to get shorter.
