Rerick relishing opportunity with Wolfpack

Former Prince George high school basketball star Cassie Rerick returned to the Northern Sports Centre this past weekend as a member of the Thompson Rivers Wolfpack.

Rerick suited up for the Duchess Park Condors before joining the UNBC Timberwolves women’s basketball program for two seasons.

Even though the Wolfpack dropped both contests to UNBC on Friday and Saturday it was still nice to head back home. “I’ve had city finals in this gym and you know I like coming back. Kamloops has been nice as I get to stay with my family since we all moved but you definitely get home feels every time you come back,” Rerick says.

One of the things she remembers the most is losing to her former team-mate at UNBC and high school rival Hannah Pudlas who attended Cedars Christian.

“We had city finals against them and they beat us when I attended Duchess Park so I played against her and she was a rookie with the Timberwolves when I was in my second year when we played here together but it’s nice to see her leading that team.”

TRU is 2-8 at the Christmas break of the Canada West women’s basketball season.

Rerick says the team is in a bit of transition year with not a lot of senior players on their roster. “We don’t have anyone graduating this year so we’re still developing and building that chemistry, hopefully we continue to do that and have a great season next year.”

Rerick is averaging 2.9 points per game this season with TRU.
