Cougars becoming the comeback kids

The Prince George Cougars won their third straight in Alberta despite trailing after two periods in each game.

Jansen Harkins scored twice in the third period to help the Cougars to a 5-4 victory over the Calgary Hitmen. The Hitmen led 3-2 after 40 minutes.

Radovan Bondra tallied the winner with 2:36 left and he also assisted on the two Harkins goals.

Ty Edmonds made 47 saves as Prince George was outshot 51-29.

Josh Maser and Brad Morrison had a goal each for the Cats who improved their road record to 17-5-1 and their overall record to 31-12-2.

The Cougars lead the overall WHL standings by a point over Regina and by two over Everett although the Pats and Silvertips both have five games in hand.

Prince George has opened up a nine point lead over Kelowna and Kamloops in the B.C. Division.

The Cougars host the 22-19-1 Portland Winterhawks Tuesday and Wednesday.
