Prince George police preaching caution during above seasonal stretch

It’s a bit of a mixed bag on the roads in Prince George due to the recent conditions.

Even though it didn’t snow on Monday night the rain is still causing havoc on some of the lesser travelled roads according to Craig Douglass with the Prince George RCMP.

“The major routes are dry already should remain that way but some of the smaller and less travelled roads are quite slippery.”

You don’t have to drive the speed limit during these times either says Douglass but you should drive to the current road conditions.

“The slickness of the surface, it could be white-out blizzard conditions, it could be flooding or even a number of things that may cause you to slow down and to drive to those conditions. Driver experience can also play a factor as well.”

Police have the authority to issue tickets in less than ideal road conditions even if you’re driving the speed limit.
