Local MP’s PTSD Bill referred to senate

Bill C-211 passed its’ third reading in the House of Commons on Friday.

Cariboo-Prince George MP Todd Doherty says he challenged them last week as he stood in the House to recognize four first responders who had passed away last week.

In the past 48 hours however, there were two more.

“I challenged us all that day that we must do better, we must be better, and today (Friday) I think we’re there. There’s a lot of work yet to be done, but today we’re sending a message that those lives matter and that those who fight for us, we’re fighting for them.”

Bill C-211, which calls for a national framework for sufferers of post-traumatic disorder (PTSD), has now been referred to the Senate for consideration.

Doherty hopes the bill will pass and become law.
