Fewer valid votes cast in both Prince George ridings in 2017

As the province’s MLAs get ready to go back to the legislature, Elections BC has released more information about May’s election results.

Final results are expected by August.

In Prince George-Mackenzie, a total of 18,776 valid votes were cast – 158 fewer than in the 2013 election. The number of rejected ballots in the riding went down slightly: 143 were rejected this year, 165 in 2013.

The Eagles Hall was the most popular place to vote in the riding – 1,989 ballots were cast there.

Liberal MLA Mike Morris received more than 50% of votes in the riding at 10,725 ballots. That’s slightly more than in 2013 when 10,524 voters in the riding cast a ballot for Morris.

In Prince George-Valemount, the most ballots were cast at the Elder Citizens Recreation Centre, where 2,317 people showed up to vote.

A total of 19,225 valid votes were cast in the riding this year – down a little from 2013 when 19,826 valid votes were cast. Fewer ballots were rejected this year: 154 compared with 214 in 2013.

MLA Shirley Bond took more than 50% of the vote in the riding with 11,189 votes. She received 102 fewer votes than in 2013.
