Prince George to experience warmer than normal summer

Another blast of summer is on the horizon for Prince George.

Environment Canada Meteorologist Alyssa Charbonneau says it should be a hot one.

“We can expect a ridge of high pressure to bring higher temperatures climbing above seasonal for the weekend and sunny conditions. We are looking at temperatures climbing to 28 and 27 degrees for Saturday and Sunday.”

Warmer than normal temperatures are being predicted for the summer months. “Our outlook for June, July and August is indicating a chance of warmer than normal temperatures for the summer, of course, we have to see how that really translates into our day-to-day weather but something to keep in mind as we move into the summer,” says Charbonneau.

It sure makes up for a wet spring. “Between March and May we saw 143.3 millimeters of precipitation and the normal is 114.5,” says Charbonneau.

On the flip side, June precipitation levels so far have plummeted.

Only 35.3 millimeters of rain dropped in our city this month.

The normal average for the month is 65.3 millimeters.

This evening is the official start of the warm season.

The summer solstice is scheduled for 9:24 pm.
