Spruce Kings bring back Buffie as Director of Scouting

The Spruce Kings have brought back an old bench boss to the front office.

Former assistant head coach Colton Buffie has been named as Prince George’s new Director of Scouting.

The 27-year-old spent last season in a similar role with the Fort McMurray Oil Barons of the Alberta Junior Hockey League, and says his return will be met with promise.

“I am very honored and excited to be a part of the Spruce Kings organization again. The staff have done a phenomenal job putting a competitive team on the ice each and every night and I will do everything I can to help that process.

The Port Alberni native provided his coaching abilities from 2011 to 2015 and believes he has a good understanding of the type of players amongst the organization.

“My plan is to work with Mike [Hawes], and Adam [Maglio] to help recruit as many talented, driven, respectful, and hardworking players to the Spruce Kings family and hopefully bring a championship to the City of Prince George.”

Spruce Kings General Manager Mike Hawes says Buffie has a keen eye for talent and personality needed to form the best hockey team possible.
