UPDATE: The landfill has re-opened but parts of the Hart are still without power.

Published 2:05 PM: The Foothills Landfill has been temporarily closed.
The Regional District of Fraser-Fort George released this statement:
“Early this afternoon, a power line broke near the Foothills Blvd Regional Landfill. The downed line is near landfill operations so as a precaution, we are temporarily closing the landfill. This move is necessary to ensure the safety of public, our contractors and staff at the landfill.
BC Hydro has been notified and is working on the situation.”
BC Hydro’s website shows an outage affecting more than 2,100 customers west of Rosemont Dr, east of Foothills Boulevard, south of Knight Crescent due to the downed line.
