The Prince George Spruce Kings have summoned an Eastern league champion to the castle in a Friday afternoon acquisition.
Forward Shawn Kennedy is heading to Northern BC in a trade from the Carleton Place Canadians in Ontario.
In return, goaltender Tavin Grant will be going to the 2016-17 Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL) champions after spending two seasons with Prince George.

Kings General Manager Mike Hawes says Kennedy is a gifted player, both physically and mentally.
“He’s also a young player, but already has two years of Junior A experience with an excellent program in Carleton Place. We jumped at the opportunity to add a young, talented player to our line-up.”
The 18-year-old Cornwall, Ontario product recorded 34 points (14G, 20A) in 58 regular season games last year, while adding 11 points in 16 playoff games.
Kennedy and the Canadians lost in the regional finals to the Terrebonne Cobras, who went on to the RBC Cup.
