The 25-year-old has agreed to a two-year, $3 million contract with the Caps.

Terms of the deal were first reported by Bob McKenzie of TSN.

The former PG and Cariboo Cougar notched 15 goals and 8 assists in 66 regular season games with Washington and zero points in seven playoff games.

Connolly, who was drafted sixth overall in 2010 by the Tampa Bay Lightning, has 82 points (42G, 40A) and 142 penalty minutes in 276 regular season NHL games with the Capitals, Lightning, and Boston Bruins.
