Wells Gray Provincial Park closes in light of wildfire outbreak

While there is no immediate risk, BC Parks has decided to close off all public access into Wells Gray Provincial Park due to the rapid increase in wildfires.

As of 8AM Sunday morning, the closure is an effort to protect public safety and will remain in effect until the situation is further resolved.

In a statement, the BC Wildfire Service says there’s only one road with access to the park, which could make it difficult to evacuate anyone should a fire break out.

They says this will also enable an orderly exit the area and BC Parks personnel is helping anyone who needs an extra hand in moving out.
